Healthy Aging Research Network (HAN)

What is the HAN?

The Healthy Aging Research Network (HAN) is made up of nine university research centers at Texas A&M University, University of California, Berkeley, University of Colorado, University of Illinois, Chicago, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Pittsburgh, University of South Carolina, University of Washington and West Virginia University. Funded by the CDC, the HAN's mission is to better understand the determinants of healthy aging in older adult populations; to identify interventions that promote healthy aging; and to assist in the translation of such research into sustainable community-based programs throughout the nation.

To learn more about the HAN's mission and initiatives, see the HAN Network Writing Group's publication in the January 2006 issue of CDC's peer-reviewed journal, Preventing Chronic Disease.

What is the Center's connection with the HAN?

The Center works with the HAN to track the latest research from NIH, CDC, AHRQ, and other science agencies, and translates study findings into practical tools and resources for the aging network.
